GlideCare

A self-discovery companionfor people who’d rather not be fixed.

We shaped GlideCare from a product reference into a complete product: strategy, identity, an iOS app built around a ten-second check-in, and the website that introduces it.

[01]Project overview

From a referenceto a product of its own.

GlideCare came to us with a clear direction and a reference product: a self-discovery app that combines personality-style tests, mood tracking, journaling, daily routines and calming exercises.

Our job was to decide what GlideCare would be, then design all of it: the product logic, the identity, the iPhone app and the website that introduces it, held together by one design system.

Product strategy

Core loop, principles and information architecture

Brand identity

Mark, wordmark, type, colour, imagery and motion guidelines

iOS app

Onboarding, five tabs, tests, plans and the Plus flow

Website

Responsive marketing site from desktop to phone

Design system

Tokens and components shared by app and web

Motion language

Three principles: glide, settle, breathe

[02]Market challenge

Wellbeing apps ask for commitmentbefore they’ve earned it.

The category is crowded with capable products. The friction is rarely missing features; it is how the features are asked for.

01

Value behind a wall

Many wellbeing apps ask for a trial before the first useful moment. People leave before they find out if it helps.

02

Tests that label you

Results read like verdicts. A personality type is easy to share and hard to use on a Tuesday.

03

Streaks that scold

Miss one day and the counter resets. The app built to reduce pressure becomes another source of it.

04

Everything on day one

Tests, games, plans, journals and routines all compete for the first screen, so nothing feels like the place to start.

The opportunity

Make the smallest possible session feel complete, and let insight, not guilt, bring people back.

[03]Strategy

Four principles every screen had to pass.

A small figure sitting at the end of a wooden pier on a still mountain lake

01

Ten seconds counts

The smallest session, one mood tap, is a complete session. Everything else is optional depth.

02

Insight, not diagnosis

Results describe tendencies in everyday words and end with one thing to try.

03

Plans that wait

Progress is counted in days completed, not days in a row. Gaps pause, nothing resets.

04

Free core, honest upgrade

Check-ins, journal and breathing stay free. Plus is offered after value, with an equal ‘no’.

[04]Solution

One loop, one entry point, every feature in its place.

Product strategy

Reframed a feature list (tests, mood, journal, routines, calm exercises, a 28-day plan) into one loop with a single entry point: the check-in.

Information architecture

Five tabs named for what you do, not what we built: Today, Discover, Journal, Calm, You. Settings and billing live under You, out of the daily path.

UX

Onboarding asks one question and needs no account. Sign-up is offered the first time there is something worth saving.

Interaction

Every tap answers in under 200ms with a spring or a tick. Long animation is reserved for breathing, where slowness is the point.

Visual communication

Moods are colour orbs rather than faces, so no feeling looks wrong. Prompts are set in italic serif so they read as questions.

Personalisation

Intentions from onboarding choose the first plan and the daily prompt; today’s mood adjusts which practice Today suggests.

Retention

The weekly view in You is the reason to return: it shows what changed. Reminders are opt-in and named by the user.

[05]UX architecture

Check in, reflect, discover,practise, notice.

01

Check in

A one-tap mood with optional tags. Ten seconds is a complete session.

02

Reflect

One prompt chosen from today's mood, answered in a line or a page.

03

Discover

Short tests that turn patterns into plain-language insight.

04

Practise

A breath, a routine or a day of the 28-day plan, sized to the moment.

05

Notice

The weekly view shows what changed. Insight is the reason to return.

[06]Brand identity & guidelines

Calm, with a pulse.Never clinical.

Wellbeing brands drift towards beige or towards hospital blue. GlideCare sits between: a confident iris for action, warm dawn and mint for feeling, and night tones for evening use.

One unbroken stroke closes into a G: the path of a glide. The dawn point above it is the moment of noticing.

Jakarta carries every label, number and action: open, friendly, legible at 11px. Fraunces Italic is reserved for reflective moments only, so a prompt always looks like a question, never an instruction.

[08]Mobile app design

The first two weeks, screen by screen.

  1. Day 0

    Start without an account

Onboarding asks one question: what brings you here. Intentions shape the first plan and prompts. Sign-up waits until there is something worth saving.

  2. Day 1

Ten seconds is a full session

Today opens on the check-in. One tap logs a mood and counts as showing up; the plan step and routine sit underneath for days with more room.

  3. Day 3

    Insight, in plain language

Test results read like a thoughtful friend, not a report. Every result ends with one small thing to try, and a reminder that this is reflection, not diagnosis.

  4. Day 9

A plan that waits for you

The 28-day plan shows progress as days, not percentages. Miss one and the plan pauses; nothing resets, nothing scolds.

  5. Day 14

    Upgrade, never ambush

Plus appears after value, not before it. The free core is stated plainly and ‘Keep using free’ has the same weight as the upgrade.

Brand, site and appsay the same thing.

Brand

The mark, palette and two typefaces. Iris means act, dawn and mint mean feel.

Website

Built from the same tokens. Its free test hands visitors into the app’s Discover tab.

App

The check-in, the loop and the plans. The weekly view brings people back.

[12]Final outcome

A product with a point of view, ready to build.

GlideCare left the project with a defined product loop, a complete identity and guidelines, the iPhone app designed end to end, a responsive marketing site and a design system that ties the two together.

The through-line is restraint. Every feature from the original direction is still there; what changed is the order they arrive in, and the respect with which they ask for someone’s time.
